St Chris
Having just moved (a year ago) to Bahrain with 2 children who were very miserable at a lovely sch in uk, going to st chris has been the best thing I ever did. They both love sch now, have many friends and are thriving academically. The staff have been wonderful and the schools positive attitude has really encouraged them. Thank heavens for St Chris!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fanrastic! Looking at secondary schools, I must say that in my experience it's still the Principal more than anyone who sets the mood of a school and this is why BSB seems to always wins hands down over St C's? By the way, isn't Mr G retiring soon? Has anyone heard anything?

I couldn't agree with you more. Nadeen is the best place for primary education in Bahrain. It is a smaller school as compared with St. C and the British School, and this makes it the perfect environment for a primary aged child. I have sent all of my children through Nadeen and all have passed tests to go on to other schools. I credit my childrens' academic and social abilities to the dedicated staff and the fantastic management at Nadeen - the school Principal, has the perfect philosophy when it comes to educating young children, and I know I can't thank her enough for creating and maintaining such a happy, warm, and welcoming school. As a teacher myself, I know where I'd refer people to - Nadeen School!

All schools should try to meet the requirements of each of the pupils within it; that's a given. I am disappointed that you werer appointed, not least given your overtly cynical attitude (and your standard of literacy). I would have hoped that they better understood the importaance of the individual child

after-11 education?
Well done, happy parent - excellent news. After Eleanor's concerns, perhaps the best seconday option really is BSB... I know where I'll be sending my daughter! I think it's important that our children are seen as individuals, each with a real potential to be tapped. That is the point of education, is it not? Why accept the meretricious compromises of Oompah? Perfect schools (for individuals) do exist. Oompah probably found it hard to support each individual in his / her class - and it seems that St C's is not that bothered about the individual if Eleanor can be believed.
Good luck, happy parent!

Nadeen School
The best kept secret in Bahrain! No advertising, all word of mouth, and the best education for your primary aged child! If you want a caring, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to learning, then Nadeen School is the best school in Bahrain for you and your children. The staff and management at Nadeen are fully centered around the individual child, and all children are encouraged to grow, develop, and mature in to confident, well spoken, and responsible citizens. Every child is known as an individual - and what can be more important at such a young age? If you have a child aged 2-11 years this is the place for you. Go and visit to see for yourself!

The Perfect School...
...doesn´t exist! There are the same sort of problems with staff & pupils that you can find in probably EVERY school, so why do so many of you post here, complaining about St Christopher´s imperfections? Every school has something special to offer certain types of pupil, not just in obtaining straight A grades- what about extra curricular, excellent It resources for example, or just a wide range of pupils of all abilities from around the world. Please get it into your heads that people are only human! Life is what you make it & I bet most teachers & pupils all over the world work hard & play hard & have a good life! Sure there are ups & downs, bullying (teachers as well as pupils), restricted (or even too much choice) syllabus, lack of something or other, or too much of this & not enough of that, but THAT IS LIFE! Stop moaning, get on with doing what YOU want to do for the right reasons as life is too short. I left Bahrain 6 yrs agao & haven´t been on this site for a few years & am so shocked that people are still moaning about schools & looking for the nonexistant Perfect School!
PS Having been a teacher there who had many ups & downs, but worked hard & played hard, I can say that staff accomodation was great, but having been to the homes of many pupils, lets just say that children are not exactly underpriviledged!
Wake up to the real world!

problems at st c's are simply a healthy result of a dialectic between .. er ... biscuits and tok. we know what we are doing....

I remember one time in particular when the management of STC chose to appeal to or against people who had voiced criticisms on this site. Perhaps those people were out of order? I don't know. Recent comments suggest that there's still a tension. Biscuit-related comments suggest that not all's well.

some things will never change
hey guys. i just want to say that this site hasnt changed in the 5 years that i haven't visited it. i left the sixth form at st.chris about 4 years ago, and i've noticed that people are not done bitching about the school and the staff (i'm sure its justified). i dont know if its the weather or just the fact that the school now has prison rules but nothing is getting better. it seems like the children get along better with each other than the teachers do. ironically, its the teachers that teach the kids to be this way. hah. what a bunch of clowns.... anyway. i miss bahrain, even with all the mad people there. i miss st.chris, even with all the clowns...

given the above, one has to ask: has st c's school ever asked that 'bad' literature be suppressed on this site? If so, what answer has been given? Your response will help many people.

Yes Amber's comment was deleted by mistake and was not meant to be censorhip and we are sorry for that. Sometime however we do need to censorship as we gat bad language and personal comments.

Can the webmaster explain why certain messages are now being excised? Do you not uphold the principles of free speech? The reply to Amber's comment - which appeared for a while - seemed very reasonable. Obviously, there's a lot of vindictiveness about. Have you been threatened with legal action?

you are all as bad as another just bitching all the time, just be greatful its not always rainy, happy slappers haven't really caught on yet and chavs keep themselves to themselves. Don't be so negative, Bahrain and all it has within its borders are fine. not brilliant but fine. Why have brilliance, it only bores you after a while

BSB/StC personal experience
When considering moving to Bahrain 1 year ago, we visited St Chris and the British School (BSB). To summarise: StC has great facilities, but feels 'cold', and we were bluntly told 'we don't do special needs' (our younger son (14) is mildly dyslexic, has been in mainstream education thus far). BSB has poor campus and facilities (which they ARE addressing) but the staff are warm, caring and friendly, and try very hard to accommodate all needs. BSB has at least 1 ex-StC teacher who prefers it to StC for their own children. It depends on your aspirations, and the needs of your child.

I guess there's nothing like a firm grasp on a golf club to compensate for one's insecurities in other departments... After all, where else but Riffa could you wind down after a hard day at the office?
